In October 2021, the UK bank NatWest bought Rooster Money. In May 2022, they decided to focus RoosterMoney solely on the UK and began removing it from non-UK app stores.

If you already had Rooster on your phone, it continued to work. However, you wouldn't get any updates. But if you got a new phone, you couldn’t install it again.

Money-savvy families have been eagerly searching for an alternative since. That is, until Bomad arrived.

What other Rooster-refugee parents say:

Perfect

The app met everything we were looking for: simple set up, kids can customize their own images and create savings categories, I can set repeat deposits. We used to have Rooster Money before it was blocked outside of the UK. Then we tried so many others. My kids didn’t like the user interface of Greenlight or GoHenry as well as several others. There were too many features and they didn’t like the visual graphics. Then we found Bomad. It was perfect and all 3 of us are happy :) Thank you!

Exactly what I was looking for

My old allowance/pocket money app got bought out by a bank so I had to find a new one. I searched for ages and tried half a dozen. There are new ones with debit cards and links to real accounts, but I was after just an app for keeping track of the virtual balances. This one is great, exactly what I was looking for. The QR code system is nice for setting up on the kid’s phones too.

I've been looking for an app that allows me to run a virtual account with my children and finally found one that is not affiliated to a bank or restricted to a country.

Kids learn the value of money; I’m going to save instead of buying more Robux!
Safer than cash and piggy banks; I lost the money from grampa!
Schedule allowances; weekly, monthly
Update instantly, on the spot; Oops, I left my money at home
Discussions instead of nagging; Can I use some of my birthday money for this Lego?
Budget & save for goals; spending, saving, giving
Easily keep track of gifts; birthday party cash
Works on spouse and kids devices; $10 deducted by Dad for V-bucks
